What happens to any unmatched stake?

When you place a bet, if any stake is left unmatched (either because there isn't enough liquidity to fully match it, or because you placed a limit order at a better-than-market price), you can control what happens to that unmatched stake using two settings below.

These settings work together: Cancel unmatched stake controls whether the unmatched stake is cancelled straight away, and Keep in-play controls what happens to any unmatched stake that's still open once the game starts. If "Cancel unmatched stake" is on, "Keep in-play" has no effect, since there'll be no unmatched stake left by kick-off.

Cancel unmatched stake

  • On — any unmatched stake which can't be matched when the bet is placed is cancelled. Useful if you don't want any unmatched exposure.

  • Off (default) — unmatched stake stays open and available for other users to match.

Keep in-play (Only relevant if "Cancel unmatched stake" is off. Only available before the game starts.)

  • On — when the market goes in-play, any unmatched stake stays open. Useful for locking in profits if the market moves in your favour without having to monitor the game state yourself.

  • Off (default) — when the market goes in-play, any unmatched stake is cancelled. Useful to avoid being picked off by drastic in-game price moves.
